U14 Team of Edgars Youth Programme Emerges Champions Of The Rising Star Tournament In Butabika

The U14 team above represented Edgars Youth Programme​ (EYP) in the rising star tournament which was held at GEMS Cambridge International School in Butabika. They played three matches in group stages where they won all of them by 4:1, 4:2 and 8:0 respectively. Having emerged number one in their group, they qualified to play finals against Rising Stars Elite Club. By half time, the score was 2:1 in favor of Rising Stars . The goal of EYP had been scored by Olimi Nyarwa Bitanywaine. In the second half however, Ejalu Jeremy scored an equalizer two (2) minutes to the end of the match, making the score board 2:2. This goal gave life and motivation to the team. Full time score was 2:2 so we went in for extra time. The rules stated that extra time is going to be played against the golden goal rule. This meant that, whoever  scored first would emerge as the winner. So the first half of the extra time still ended 2:2. In second half, Olimi Nyarwa scored an outstanding free kick outside the 18 yard box making the score board 3:2 in favor of EYP. This goal gave Edgars Youth Programme the victory it deserved. The hard work, team work and determination brought joy which filled the hearts of the fans as well as providing victory to the EYP U14 team hence emerging Champions of the Rising Stars U14 category. Congratulations boys!!
