YOUTH PROGRAMME SHINES DURING THE USA SOCCER TOUR
Youth Programme team that traveled to USA for the Weekend and Schwans Cup gave a fabulous display that left many tracing for
origin of the budding endowments .
The team reached the Semi Finals of both the Schwans and Weekend Cups.
Uganda's goal problems seems to be solved with the emergency of the silky skilled goal
poacher Bahira Katende .The diminutive goal machine who makes scoring uncomplicated netted 25 times in both the Cups .
Other team members like Eiden King Lubowa,Christian Asubo,Gabe Mawanda ,Belamy Bamwine
,Acram Mukiibi and Shema Athony not forgetting Team Coach Lwanga deserve a mention too for their contribution to the teams'
superb performance .

Test Matches Lined
up for the Edgars Youth Programme Holiday Soccer
In a bid
to give a good test to the holiday soccer participants, several trial matches have been organized for all age categories that
have been part in the programme .
These matches are to
be played from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th March 2016 at the various play grounds where our holiday
programmes are being run .The grounds include Kiwatule Recreation Center ,Old Kampala and African Bible University in

EDGARS YOUTH PROGRAMME LEAVES FOR UK SOCCER TOUR
Edgars Youth Programme football team comprised of U-16 together with the U-11 age category left for the UK on Friday
24th July 2015.
The players together with the Coaches, support
staff and a team Parent made a contingent of 16 members who left for the United Kingdom aboard British Airlines.
The team will compete in the Walsh International Super Cup which will run from 30th
July to 2nd August 2015 and later travel to the City of Manchester where they will pay a visit to Old Trafford
and the Millennium stadium in Wales together with various sites in the United Kingdom .
The official flag off ceremony was done at African Bible University Lubowa where Parents and media were in attendance.
While addressing the traveling contingent ,the Chief guest John Kiseka ,EYP CEO Philip
Kiwana ,leader of delegation Arthur Kyesimira and traveling parent Juliet Nabukenya all asked the boys and girls to
give in their best because they are representing Uganda as a nation.
is the fifth time EYP is sending a team to this tournament .It's at this tournament that Karl Martins Netzer was spotted by
Tottenham Hotspurs scouts and taken to their academy where he has graduated to the reserve team.

EDGARS YOUTH PROGRAMME U-8 TEAM PARTICIPATES IN MAKD FUN DAY
Our U-8 team had a match with Makd Nursery
and Primary School on 12th April 2015 at New Royal Gardens Nansana.
EYP won the game 2-1 courtesy of Paul Semango and Nick Dave goals .Though
Makd scored first in the opening half, our boys never gave up till they got the two goals to win the game.

Segirinya, Elija Kwanda and Ritah Namatovu, the team comprised of Nabayanza Abigail, Jordan Bagenda, Mwesigwa Jersey ,Nick
Davie, Dean Lolo ,Isaac Kugumikiriza, Paul Semango ,Mathew Mubeezi ,Mark Nsubuga ,Lorenzo Kabagambe and Sean Rugunda .
Madam Dalson the Head Mistress of the
school extended her appreciation to EYP for the support and participation in the school's fun day. She later asked parents
of the school to register their kids for the Edgars Youth Programme.
INTENSIFIED PREPARATIONS FOR THE EDGARS YOUTH PROGRAME USA, UK TOURS
In preparation for the up coming
soccer tours to the USA and the UK, a training camp for the registered kids has been set up to get them ready. This programme
is coordinated by Coach Peter Makanga, together with other EYP coaches training kids every Saturday at the African Bible University
Lubowa and Makerere University Business School, Nakawa.
The training is a preparation process to see the kids perform at their best during the Schwan's
cup USA and the English cup UK. Our U-12 team last won the USA cup in 2012 and have come up as runners up in 2013 and 2014.
Parents are welcome to accompany the
children on the tour and will be visiting sites like the Old Trafford, Etihad stadium and the football museum Manchester for
the UK tour. While in the USA they will visit the Missiisisipi river and the Mall of America are on the list of the places
to be visited .

YOUTH PROGRAMME ORGANISES THE STANDARD CHARTERED TROPHY "ROAD TO ANFIELD "
In partnership with Standard Chartered Bank, Edgars
Youth Programme (EYP) was granted the duty to organize the Stand Chartered Trophy tournament "Road to Anfield" by
Standard Chartered Bank Uganda. The event comprised of a several activities for kids, live performance from Bebe Cool and
the main activity a 5-a-side tournament organized by EYP.
40 amateur teams from different corporate companies registered for the competition, they
were divided into eight groups where two teams from each group qualified to the knock out stages. In spite of the tough competition
the event was embraced with a fun filled atmosphere for all participants.
Roofings 1 emerged the champions of the tournament after a win against
Coca cola 1 in the finals by 4-3 in penalty shoot outs. Roofings 1 therefore progressed to Nairobi for the regional tournament
where the winner will go to Anfield.
Special regards goes to Standard Chartered Bank for organizing the vibrant one day event and let's all get together
in supporting the Ugandan representatives Roofings 1 at the Regional tournament on March 7th in Nairobi, Kenya.
EDGARS YOUTH PROGRAMME CONDUCTS A REFRESHER COACHING COURSE
In a bid to promote professionalism in football, Edgars Youth Programme conducted beginners
five day coaching course.The course was
held at Africa Bible University Lubowa from Monday 16th to Friday 20th 2015 with a total number of 15
participants under the facilitation of five instructors.The course was intended to review the basic coaching methods catering to “the golden generation of
learning “ which is 17 years and below .The course included topics such as “the model coach,
code of conduct, importance of planning, child safety and football techniques”.
The course was led by senior coaches Arthur Kyesimire, Said Segirinya,
Dan Mubiru, Peter Makanga and Nyima Jackson the FUFA education officer. The 15 trainees included Samuel Kaddu, Roanald Lwanga,
Ssedikaddiwa Frank, Wamboya Mubarak, Kabeta Joseph, Bukenya Ibrahim, Ssenkasi Dothan, Kukunda Elijah, Tamale Boban, Kizito
Bruno, Baziwane Junior, Mukasa Yusuf, Mutabya Samuel, Mugabi James Lawrence and Kimbugwe Isaac. All those who passed out were

KAMPALA HOLIDAY PROGRAMME HOST FIFA REFEREE INSTRUCTOR ALI KALYANGO
The holiday programme in Old Kampala was today visited by FIFA Referee Fitness Instructor Mr. Kalyango Ali. Mr. Kalyango
spoke to the children about the rules of the game from a referees point of view and the importance of a referee in football.
This session was also used to identify pupils potenially interested in refereing football in preparation for a referees course
that is due to get underway at Edgars Youth Programme. It is important that football players understand the role of a referee
in the game of football.

EDGARS YOUTH PROGRAMME MBALE TOUR
On Tuesday 09th Dec 2014, a team of 54 pupils and 5 coaches set off to Mbale on
a Study and Sports Tour. They will be visitng multiple sites like Sipi Falls, Cure Hospital, Step TV and a Sports Gala at
the Child Restoration Outreach (Mbale) to mention a few. They are scheduled to return on Friday 12th Dec at Aga Khan Primary
School. Good Luck to the group and we wish them a fun filled educative experience.

EDGARS YOUTH PROGRAMME PARTICIPATES IN THE FIFA COM-UNITY SEMINAR FOR WOMEN'S FOOTBALL.
The seminar was among the activities
organized to launch to the "Live your goals "campaign as prepared by Federation of Uganda Football Association
(FUFA) together with its mother affiliate body of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA). The seminar
ran from the 1st -3rd December 2014 at Imperial Royale Hotel Kampala. The Campaign / project is intended
to promote Women's football.
Different stake holders in football attended the workshop in a bid to "Developing women's football to a Professional
level" and this was the theme of the seminar. The state minister for Sports Hon. Charles Bakabulindi graced the maiden
day of the seminar accompanied by the FUFA CEO Mr. Edgar Watson, Mr. Jasper Aligawesa the General Secretary to
the National Council of Sports and the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo closed the seminar .Our CEO Mr. Phillip Kiwana
is the first African Country to launch the "Live your goals" campaign.
At the seminar, key topics discussed were media relationship,
communication of women's football in the country, marketing women's football and grassroots development. The seminar was led
by FIFA instructors Emy Caseletti (Marketing), Jacqui Shipanga (the head coach of Namibia's women's teams) and organized by
Florie Ramogodi a FIFA development officer from Botswana.
Potential sponsors from corporate companies and institutions like British Council, Uganda
Broadcasting Corporation, Uganda Sports Press Association, Airtel, Post Bank and Moringa Ogilvy too were part of this seminar.
In a nut shell the seminar was driving
towards creating more opportunities for women's football players in Uganda, developing grassroots talents and rebranding the
women's national team the Crest Cranes to compete with African women football giants of Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana and South
Though EYP had
girls projects earlier and already developed girls like Zainab Nabatanzi who currently plays for UCU women's football team,
a coach and Referee ,there is need to add up to the numbers of women's football role models like Magida Nantanda who
is the current coach for the Uganda women's national team the Crested cranes.
We are looking forward to have a girls' football team which will
take part in competitive tournaments in Uganda and across borders.
We too shall ensure that the girl's get the right guidance and development which will lead
them to the world of professionalism thus earning a living from the game of football.

THE UNITED NATIONS CHILD RIGHTS CONVENTION FOR MAKING 25 YEARS.
Tuesday 25th November, representative bodies of Uganda Child Rights NGO Network (UCRNN) and UNICEF Uganda organized
a function to commemorate 25 years of the Child Rights Convention. The theme of the convention was "Counting The Gains
For Children" and it took place at Golf Course Hotel Kampala with the First Lady, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni as the Guest

several dignitaries discussed key issues concerning the children of Uganda on some of the milestones accomplished over the
25 years and new ways forward. These discussions were led by a panel of speakers from different specialties. Hon. Kassiano
Wadri (Education and Legislation); Dr. Sheila Ndyanabangi (Child Health); Deogratias Yiga (Child Protection); George Nyakora
(President Africa Wide Movement for Children) and Mrs, Aida Girma (UNICEF Country Representative).
The First Lady talk about the importance in the roles of parents in raising
their children during her remarks. She emphasized on ensuring that their rights are protected at all times. She also recognized
the organizations taking the initiative to address issues faced by children and further added that everyone should identify
his or her role as a child rights enforcers.

Mr Phillip Kiwana the EYP CEO has attended
the Fifa seminar for developing women football in the country.
EYP intends to improve on the structure of the girls team that will be registered
in the kampala
competition next year 2015.
Kiwana says he will transfer the knowledge obtained from the seminar to

Edgars' Youth Programme P.7 & S.4 HOLIDAYS' PROGRAMME COMMENCES.
The Edgars youth Holiday Programme
has kicked off with Primary 7 and O level leavers braking the ground. The sessions are being conducted at Old Kampala Secondary
School football grounds and African Bible University grounds, Lubowa.
Initial sessions were
conducted by coaches Saidi Segirinya, Samuel Kaddu, Kwesi Kutesa and Dan Mubiru, with the rest of the coaches joining in through
the duration of the week. The session starts with a talk session where students review the recent events and news in the football
world, followed by a discussion with the coaches on the topic of the day e.g "Sensitization on health matters."
Or "Dos and Don'ts while in the Holiday Programme."
The session then proceeds on with
a coaching session on the selected topic of the day that is football focused. The students are having plenty of fun and showing
positive attitude during the sessions as they are taken through football skills, fitness drills, jogging and career guidance.
The final stage of the session is a mini football match where the pupils get to incorporate what they just practiced in the
drills to refer to game related situations.
The reason for the early kick off of this holiday
programme is to cater to the early holiday makers more especially from Primary Seven and Secondary Four to keep them occupied
in a way of avoiding idle minds home.
We look forward to accommodating the rest of the children
once they break off for the holiday as we will be introducing a holiday league competition.
THE EYP ACADEMY TEAM TRAINING IS SOON TO
After along holiday, the EYP team shall
be resuming with training as they prepare for the 2014-2015 season.
The boys are therefore reminded to prepare for
they will soon get communication from the management.
Meanwhile, other good players shall also have a chance to join the team on merit
but only after the selection so they can also prepare for these trials.
