Edgars Youth Programme participates in the Inaugural U14 Futsal League

Edgars Youth Programme has today made maiden appearance in a Futsal competition with a U14 boys’ team under stewardship of coach Bruno Kizito.

The U14 Boys Futsal League kicked off today at Old Kampala Futsal Arena with eight fixtures amongst the 8 teams divided into two groups A and B, each team playing two games.

The boys had a great experience playing their opening fixtures in group A where they are potted with KJT, Soccer for Life and Junub Academy, winning Soccer for Life 4-2 and falling 7-0 to KJT was a fair start for the lads. Ryan Serunjogi and Malcom Wasswa made it to the scoresheet with a brace each.

The U14 Championship will be played across three windows. Each team will play nine games in the first window which kicked off today, with 27 matches played across three windows.

Match day two of both these two Leagues will happen next Tuesday, 23rd May 2023 at Old Kampala Futsal Arena

The overall winner after three windows will be announced in December.

“This tournament is just the beginning of a plan to promote the game at the youth level, which will subsequently provide a supply chain of talent for the league and national team in the long run” Said Hamza Jjunju, Chairman Futsal Association of Uganda

It is an opportunity to identify and nurture young talent in the country with an aim to create a formidable national team that will compete at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
