Edgars Youth Programme (EYP) is dedicated to the development of young soccer talent through a variety of initiatives, including participation in international competitions. This annual tradition of traveling and competing on the global stage has yielded exceptional results, helping to develop good players and public figures.
History of Participation in International Competitions
Over the past 12 years, the EYP has made significant strides in the international soccer arena by participating in some of the world’s most prestigious youth tournaments. These include:
- World Cup Youth Conference in Germany (2006)
- This was one of the initial platforms that introduced our young players to international competition, setting the stage for future participation.
- Gothia World Youth Cup in Sweden (2008/2009)
- Known as the world’s largest and most international youth football tournament, it provided a remarkable experience and exposure to diverse playing styles.
- Norway Cup (2010)
- As one of the biggest football tournaments in the world, it offered our players a chance to compete against some of the best youth teams globally.
- Schwan’s USA Cup (2011-2017)
- Over several years, this event allowed continuous engagement with international teams, enhancing the players’ skills and competitiveness.
- Welsh International Super Cup (2009-2015)
- Participation in this tournament helped build resilience and international camaraderie among our players.
- Keele Cup (2012)
- Another key event that contributed to the holistic development of our athletes through competitive play and cultural exchange.
- Nottingham International Cup (2016)
- This tournament further honed the abilities of our players, giving them valuable international exposure.
- New Balance International Cup (2017)
- An opportunity for our players to showcase their talents and learn from their peers globally.

The participation in these international competitions has been instrumental in shaping the careers of many young athletes. The exposure to different playing styles, cultures, and levels of competition has not only improved their soccer skills but also contributed to their personal growth and development. Andrew Kabora, Mugulusi Ibrahim, and Stephen Dese Mukwala are just a few examples of the success stories emerging from these international engagements.
Since 2019, EYP has paused its international competition program due to internal decisions. However, having built a rich history of participation and success in the past, the anticipation for future soccer trips is high. We expect the upcoming trips to be extraordinary, offering young players unparalleled opportunities for exposure and growth. The experiences gained from competing on international stages are invaluable, and we are committed to resuming this tradition with renewed vigor and purpose.
Edgars Youth Programme’s commitment to international competitions has been a cornerstone of its success in developing young soccer talent. Through participation in prestigious tournaments around the world, our players have gained skills, confidence, and exposure that are essential for their growth both on and off the field.
