Three Edgars Youth Programme Players Receive U17 National Team Call-Up

Edgars Youth Programme is thrilled to celebrate a significant milestone as three of our talented players have earned their call-up to the Uganda U17 National Team Provisional Squad for the upcoming AFCON U17 Zonal Qualifiers set to be played from 14th to 28th December 2024 in Uganda.

Defenders Kombi Eze and Garang Alfred Feni, along with midfielder Atendele Bob Jeliga, will proudly don the national jersey, representing not only Uganda but also the values and excellence nurtured at Edgars Youth Programme.

For Kombi Eze, this call-up is his second having made it to the U15 National Team Provisional Squad for the CECAFA U15 tournam3nt last year though he was cut short by an injury he sustained in the early days of the camp. Another call up this time a dream come true. Known for his impeccable defensive positioning and leadership on the field, Kombi has consistently demonstrated the qualities of a future star.

Garang Alfred Feni, a versatile and tenacious defender, has also been a standout in recent tournaments. His ability to read the game and make crucial interceptions makes him a vital addition to the national squad. Feni has shown great promise, and this opportunity will undoubtedly elevate his game further.

In the midfield, Atendele Bob Jeliga has been a maestro, controlling play with his exceptional vision and creativity. His ability to dictate the tempo of matches has been instrumental in Edgars’ recent successes, earning him recognition on the national stage.

Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo, who is leading the U17 National Team, expressed his confidence in the squad’s potential. “We have a group of highly talented young players, and I am optimistic about our chances in the upcoming qualifiers,” he stated.

These call-ups serve as a source of inspiration for aspiring footballers within the Edgars Youth Programme. They prove that dedication, discipline, and the right guidance can lead to extraordinary opportunities.

Speaking about the players’ achievements, Joel Cornerious Kivumbi, Communications Head of Edgars Youth Programme, expressed immense pride.

As Kombi, Garang, and Bob vying for places into the final squad to represent onto the national stage, the entire Edgars family will be cheering them on. We believe in their abilities to shine and represent Uganda with pride and determination.

Uganda U17 National Team entered residential training camp on Friday, 22nd November 2024 at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, where they will be based for the preparations.
