Kampala, Uganda – August 16, 2024 – The much-anticipated 2024 Standard Chartered Cup tournament has officially been launched at the Standard Chartered Bank’s main branch in Kampala. The tournament, now in its seventh edition, continues to offer football enthusiasts a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness an English Premier League match live in the UK—a prize that money simply can’t buy.

The Standard Chartered Cup is an international 5-a-side football tournament, deeply connected to Standard Chartered Bank’s sponsorship of Liverpool FC. Since its inception in 2015, the tournament has grown in popularity, becoming a cornerstone for engaging clients, Liverpool FC fans, and the broader football community in Uganda. The event was paused after the 2019 edition due to the global pandemic but has returned in full force, promising a vibrant and competitive atmosphere.

The tournament will take place on September 7, 2024, at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. A total of 40 teams are expected to participate, each vying for the prestigious chance to travel to the UK. The teams will be divided into eight groups, with each team playing four group stage matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, progressing through to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and ultimately, the final match.

The draw to determine group stage opponents will be conducted on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The excitement is already building as teams prepare for what promises to be a highly competitive tournament.
